Broward Health Imperial Point Achieves ANCC Pathway to Excellence Program® Redesignation

Hospital Recognized for Commitment to Nurses Since 2014

FORT LAUDERDALE, FLORIDA - Broward Health Imperial Point received Pathway to Excellence® redesignation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). The hospital has held this designation since 2014 and was previously redesignated in 2018.

It is the only Pathway organization in the tri-county area and one of only 21 in the state of Florida. Worldwide, there are 204 Pathway organizations.

This prestigious designation highlights a commitment to creating a healthy work environment where nurses feel empowered and valued. It demonstrates that nurses are an integral part of the healthcare team, with a voice in policy and practice.

“We value the vital role nurses play in the delivery of compassionate and quality care and strive to create a work environment that leads to professional growth, job satisfaction and retention, especially in light of the nurse shortages we are facing,” said Judy Frum, Chief Executive Officerat Broward Health Imperial Point, who is herself a nurse. “It is an honor to hold this designation.”

Nurse recruitment and retention is critical with Florida projected to face a shortfall of 59,100 nurses by 2035 according to a report commissioned by the Florida Hospital Association and the Safety Net Hospital Alliance of Florida.

As part of its redesignation, Broward Health Imperial Point demonstrated that it met Pathway to Excellence expectations through initiatives and practices such as:

-Leadership that fosters staff collaboration and support for a shared governance environment.

-A culture of interprofessional shared decision-making, such as direct care nurse involvement in hiring decisions and the creation of evidence-based practices.

-Robust nurse orientation and ongoing educational and professional development opportunities.

-Creation of a “Zen Den” to support employee wellness by a holistic council that includes deputy charge nurses.
