Most prescription and health insurance plans are accepted at Broward Health’s outpatient pharmacies.
Our Broward Health complete transition specialist’s unique services are free to patients being discharged from the hospital. Your discharge medications and supplies are not included in your hospital bill. Your copays or payments are processed in the same way and at the same cost as an outside pharmacy.
Your transition specialist will consult with you and assess cost-effective solutions for discharge medications. You can also enroll in our patient assistance programs and receive free or low-cost outpatient prescriptions through Broward Health’s Insurance Assistance-MOPED Program.

Broward Health’s complete transition program helps coordinate your care and simplify your transition to home so you can focus on a strong recovery. Your transition specialist is a licensed pharmacy technician who collaborates with your physician, nurses and case managers to assess your discharge needs, including:
All of this occurs before you leave the hospital. If your discharge plan includes medications or healthcare supplies, we can deliver those items directly to your room.
Our certified clinical pharmacists and pharmacy technicians are always available to address questions and concerns. We provide drug information leaflets with every prescription, so patients have a better understanding of medications they are taking.
You get the convenience of a one-stop shop when leaving the hospital or after a visit to one of our clinics. Clinical pharmacists can view medical records, allowing them to address questions without calling the provider. Our teams have regular quality assurance meetings and processes in place to prevent and catch dispensing errors. We can rapidly fill and refill prescriptions, and because we have strong relationships with Broward Health providers, we quickly resolve any prescription clarification issues that may arise.
You have the option to refill prescriptions online or on your phone, and Broward Health offers same-day delivery at no additional cost to patients under the Specialty Pharmacy Program.
We currently offer automatic refills, text message reminders when prescriptions are ready for pick up, and an app where patients can request prescription refills.

Each year, many Americans die from medical errors. Such errors can happen anywhere in the healthcare system.
People take prescription medicines for many reasons. They may use them to ease pain, anxiety, or attention deficit disorder.
