Specialized Services

Minimally Invasive Robotic Surgery - Broward Health Imperial Point uses the da Vinci Xi to perform minimally-invasive surgical procedures in the areas of gynecology, urology and general surgery. Unlike traditional “open” surgery, patients may now experience: A shorter hospital stay, less blood loss, fewer complications, less need for narcotic pain medicine, a faster recovery, and smaller incisions for minimal scarring.

Da Vinci Xi Information - If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with a condition that may require surgery, you owe it to yourself to learn about all of your medical options, including the most effective, least invasive surgical treatments available.

Broward Health Imperial Point (BHIP) is the first and only hospital in Broward County to acquire the latest technology in robotic surgery: the da Vinci® Xi Surgical System. The da Vinci Xi is a tool that utilizes advanced, robotic technologies to assist surgeons during operations. It does not act on its own, but is controlled by a robotic-trained surgeon. The da Vinci Xi can be used across a broad spectrum of minimally-invasive surgical procedures and has been optimized for multi-quadrant surgeries in the areas of gynecology, urology, thoracic, cardiac and general surgery.

Starting in October 2015, Broward Health Imperial Point began using the da VinciXi to perform minimally-invasive surgical procedures in the areas of gynecology, urology and general surgery. Unlike traditional “open” surgery, patients may now experience:

  • A shorter hospital stay
  • Less blood loss
  • Fewer complications
  • Less need for narcotic pain medicine
  • A faster recovery
  • Smaller incisions for minimal scarring

Emergency ServicesBroward Health Imperial Point’s Emergency Department was completely renovated in January 2010. This modern facility boasts 20 treatment rooms equipped with state-of-the-art technology as well as some of the luxuries of home. The department features five geriatric-friendly rooms, Primary Stroke Center and Heart Failure Program (certified by the Joint Commission), a designated critical care treatment room, a family waiting area, and a behavioral health treatment area.

OrthopedicsThe orthopedics and sports medicine program brings together physicians, surgeons, athletic trainers and physical therapists to diagnose and treat orthopedic problems and sports injuries. For years, professional sports teams have sent players to Broward Health Imperial Point for orthopedic surgery because of the hospital’s reputation. When necessary, treatment continues with physical therapy to help athletes return to their sport.

Hana Table - The Hana® table is a specially designed surgical table that allows for hyperextension, adduction and external rotation of the hip to an extent not possible with conventional tables. While utilizing the table, surgeons are able to replace the hip without detachment of the muscles or tendons from the hip or thigh bones. With the anterior approach, a small 4 inch incision is made just below and to the outside of the groin. Two muscles are then pushed aside, giving the surgeons access to the hip socket to perform the replacement. No muscles at any time during the procedure are split or detached. For the patient, that results in a faster recovery, less pain, smaller incision, less blood loss and less scarring.

Cardiac Services DepartmentThe Cardiac Services Department at Broward Health Imperial Point provides an individualized and comprehensive approach to identification of cardiac risk factors and quick assessment of symptoms.

Center for Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine - Applying an interdisciplinary approach, the Center's staff treats any non-healing wound. Plastic and vascular surgeons and physicians specializing in internal medicine and infectious disease comprise just part of this staff.

The Outpatient Services Center - The outpatient center provides patients with a personalized and comforting experience as a multi-skilled professional guides them throughout their visit. Services include: Mammography, Ultrasound, EKG, CT Scan, X-Ray, Nuclear Medicine, MRI Bone Densitometry and Laboratory. Open M-F 7am – 6pm, Saturday 7am – 3pm.
