For more than 85 years, Broward Health has provided comprehensive cancer care to South Florida residents and beyond. Our multidisciplinary team, including renowned oncology specialists and nurses, offers a complete spectrum of cancer care dedicated to providing the best outcomes for our patients. Broward Health nurses are specially trained to provide care to oncology patients and are certified in cancer care through the Oncology Nursing Society.
Offering advanced treatments backed by evidence-based research, our services include lung cancer screening, genetic testing, radiation oncology, medical oncology, surgical oncology, patient navigation, nutritional counseling, survivorship programs, support groups, as well as genetic evaluation, counseling, and testing for genetic mutations to determine whether a patient is at an increased risk for cancer.
Broward Health’s palliative care team focuses on relieving pain, symptoms, and stress of a serious illness. Our goal is to improve the quality of life for our patients and their caregivers. From the time of diagnosis throughout the continuum of care, palliative care is provided alongside curative treatment or treatment to improve quality of life. A collaborative team of physicians, nurses, social workers, and clergy provides a compassionate system of support for patients and their families. The team works together to provide optimal symptom relief, emotional and spiritual support, and assistance to patients and families in making treatment decisions that respect the patient’s wishes.
At Broward Health, our dedicated team offers an individualized, holistic approach to cancer treatment. We offer a variety of resources and support to assist patients every step of the way in their fight against cancer. Our multidisciplinary team works together to help ensure patients receive the highest quality care during diagnosis, treatment, and recovery, including:
Pediatric Cancer Care: The Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Center at Salah Foundation Children’s Hospital is integral to Broward Health’s comprehensive cancer services. Children can receive the most up-to-date treatments close to home while maintaining their family life and other activities. Pediatric hematologists/oncologists serve patients from birth to age 21. The hospital is a member of the Children’s Oncology Group, offering families access to numerous pediatric oncology clinical research trials, which is critical in treating pediatric cancer patients.
Noreen Salah Burpee Adult Infusion Center: The award-winning, redesigned Noreen Salah Burpee Adult Infusion Center offers cancer care in a healing, patient-centered environment with an array of support services, including a financial counselor, an oncology dietician, and a palliative care team. The center features a triage and social services room, iPad technology at the bedside, music, art and pet therapy, peer-to-peer mentoring programs, and an outdoor healing garden for patients and families. Support groups are also available, including the cancer transitions survivorship program, a four-week workshop designed to help survivors transition from active treatment to post-treatment care.
